Band Council

Band Council is a group of student leaders that assist with fund raising, trip coordination, planning of events, and fun student-run activities.

Band Council Meeting Minutes

Band Council Meeting Process

  • The President and/or Ms. Latham may call a Band Council meeting at his/her discretion. The date and agenda will be posted on the Band Council bulletin board.
  • Any student leader may request to add an agenda item. If a leader would like to add an item, tell the president or director immediately. If the agenda is already made, it will be amended.
  • The meeting will follow the agenda with discussion as needed.
  • After discussion of an agenda item and if a leader feels that further action is necessary, any leader other then the president and/or director must make a motion to vote on a plan of action, the motion must be seconded. The president must ask for any more discussion and then there will be a vote. If it sounds close, the president must redo the vote by hands.
  • At every meeting, the minutes from last meeting must be approved. The minutes must be emailed to all leaders and posted on the Band Council bulletin board following each meeting.
  • There is a strict no talking out of turn policy during meetings. In order to talk, a leader must raise his/her hand and may be called on by the President or Director.
  • Band Council meetings are open. However, anyone who is not on Band Council may not talk during the meeting.
  • Some meetings may involve Tri-M members. At the meetings that Tri-M members attend, non-Band Council Tri-M members may only speak during parts of the meeting related to Tri-M. These parts will be specifically marked with the Tri-M insignia on the agenda; otherwise the no talking policy will still be in effect.
