What is 'band camp?
ANSWER: Band camp is a 4-5 day intensive workshop, where new and returning students begin training for the upcoming fall competitive season. Held in August, students learn and review basics in music and marching, and have fun activities such as swimming, theme dress-up days and a poster contest. Our band camp is usually held in and around our own band room, at SCHS. All students of the Cardinal Regiment are requested to participate. The last day includes a parent meeting and a performance by the students.
How can I fundraise my band fees?
ANSWER: We are proud to offer many ways to help you pay your student band fees. Selling See's Candy, volunteering to help with the auction, selling ads to the Band Review program are just a few, and all of these (and more), will be talked about in class.
I don't play an instrument. Can I still be in band?
ANSWER: Practically anyone can learn to play an instrument. If you can't afford private lessons, talk to the director(s) about what is currently needed and a practice/lesson schedule can be arranged. Other options include joining the color guard, or being a standard carrier.
