Band Trip Checklist
Band Reviews include parade, concert and color guard performance and competitions. Some Reviews include competitions for drum majors, percussion, and even indoor concerts. In the afternoon there is usually an awards ceremony.
A Band Review is a very full day away from home. We travel early in the morning and return home late in the day. Parents, here is a checklist to help your loved one, and you, have the best day!

A Band Review is a very full day away from home. We travel early in the morning and return home late in the day. Parents, here is a checklist to help your loved one, and you, have the best day!
Help your kid(s):
- Have a quality sleep the night before parade.
- Take warm clothing (sweatshirt, thermals, coat, gloves, etc.) if the event extends into the evening. The autumn evenings can be quite cold.
- Eat a good breakfast so s/he has enough energy to walk and perform during the parade. Most parades are about one mile long; some are up to three miles and last several hours. An empty stomach makes for very wobbly legs!
- Not all Band Reviews sell food. Send a good lunch and snacks, or money (between $10 and $20) for your student to buy food. Some students take a small cooler (it has to fit under the bus seat) with soft drinks, fruit juices, sandwiches, and other goodies.
- Remind your kids to be careful and "prudent" with their money. It's a long day, so they should save some money for the evening.
Parents & guardians:
- Check email from the Band Director and website for event specific information.
- Volunteer - students need help during performance. Go to event page to see what helps we need.
- Participate - If you plan on joining the parade, find the map at band's event only Instagram feed schsbandtrip, or request a map from us and join us at the Band Review to watch our students.
- Take photos - You are very much encouraged to take photos and contribute to the Band Media Library. Contact John.
- Hourly Updates - Follow trip-only Instagram feed schsbandtrip with hourly updates for band students and families only. Content in this feed will be removed in 3 days after the event. However deleted contents are moved to Media Library under event page.
- Follow official Instagram feed and Facebook page for major highlights.
- High quality photos - After the event, check back on Band Media Library for high resolution event photos. We try to have as many faces as possible. All photo rights are released to the band and band families for share, print, or any personal purposes.
- Share - Don't forget to share with family and friends.
