Keegan McCoy, Color Guard Instructor

Keegan McCoy serves as the Color Guard Instructor and Assistant Band Director for the Cardinal Regiment. A proud alumnus of Santa Cruz High School, Keegan was a member of the program from 2017–2021, participating in nearly every aspect of the band and serving as Head Drum Major during his senior year. Entering his 10th year affiliated with the program, he is passionate about giving back to the community that helped shape him as a musician, performer, and leader.
Keegan brings extensive performance experience from Drum Corps International (DCI), having marched with the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2022, 2024, and 2025, as well as Carolina Crown in 2023. As a World Class performer, he competed at DCI Finals in Lucas Oil Stadium all four summers and was a member of both the Santa Clara Vanguard and Carolina Crown during bronze-medal seasons at the DCI World Championships.
His individual honors include receiving the John Philip Sousa Band Award from Santa Cruz High School in 2021, earning the title of California State Champion Drum Major through Peacock's ADMC Circuit in 2021, and being selected as the recipient of the 2024 Joanna Avilla Memorial Award from the Santa Clara Vanguard. Keegan is dedicated to developing confident student performers through excellence, leadership, and a passion for the marching arts.
